"Person arrested following robbery
at luxury Algarve villa.
On 3rd March at 0200 hrs a British couple and a friend were attacked by a hooded gang of three persons whilst sleeping at their luxury villa located between Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo. The victims are British tourists aged in their 70s and a friend aged about 45 years. Despite threats to victims, demanding money, gold and other valuables, the robbers left with only computers, mobile phones and other computing devices, leaving a luxury car and other items. After trying to resist the victim aged 45 years was assaulted with an iron object suffering multiple bruises on the body.
Shortly after the attack one of the robbers a Romanian national was arrested by the Night Guard Service, supported by the GNR in Quarteira and virtually all of the stolen items were recovered. The GNR are investigating and searching for the two remaining members of the gang.
This comes a short while after the arrest by the GNR of the Marta gang responsible for similar residential robberies, as well as three other gangs recently.

Excellent work by the Night Guard officer who clearly had to deal with a violent criminal. The GNR are having some success in investigating these gangs and arresting members involved.""
